My Water Heater Comes with PRCD, Is It Safe?

A Portable Residual Current Device (PRCD) is a useful safety feature, but it should be viewed as an "additional safety" measure rather than a primary one, as outlined by IEC standards. While a PRCD offers some level of protection against electric shocks by disconnecting the power in case of leakage, it is not designed to replace fixed safety devices like Residual Current Circuit Breakers (RCCBs) as in BathGuard installed in the main electrical system. A properly installed BathGuard provides comprehensive, system-wide protection, which is essential for ensuring the safety of all electrical circuits in your home, including the water heater. That's why we discontinued BathGuard-Mini as it does not fulfill statutory compliance with Indian Wiring Regulation.
